Crop CJ

Recently we have talked about the possibilty of running a crop CJ (Circle Journal).  I have put together some information for those of you new to CJs,plus some suggestions for possible themes, plus some information about how our CJ would operate.

There is a new tab at the top of this page that says "crop CJ" - if you click on that, you will see a new page all about CJs.  I will also bring printed copies of this to the next crop.  I'll bring along some of my completed CJs too, so you can see what they might look like.

I'm really excited about this idea and hope that there are enough of us to take part - it should be great fun and challenge your creativity, as well as resulting in a beautiful book for you to treasure.

Saturdays Scrap

Hi Everyone

I have finally got onto the BLOG!!!!

Just to say a big thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed themselves on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing the other girls who couldn't make this months crop, next month.

I would like to confirm that we meet on the first Saturday of each month, 1 until 5 o'clock. Also could you please bring your own mug and coffee/tea and snack if you need one. I will bring the milk along for everyone.

Jackie will be getting in touch with us through the 'blog' to let you know about the CJ's that she mentioned to us on Saturday. These were fantastic and a great idea; so please keep a watch out for this.

See you next month Saturday 1st October, until then, happy scrapping!!!

September Crop!

A very big thank you to Janet who is booking the Old Court House for the Crop in September.

Crop will be from 13:00 - 17:00, payment to be made to Janet upon arrival for the booking of the room.

You can park down Kirkland Street which is the street you use to go down when we where at the Methodist Church, but don’t park in there.  You can then walk down Kirkland through the small no entry street down to George Street and the Council room is opposite just in front of the Police Station.  You go through the double (red) doors on the front left of the building.

The End of an Era...?

As no doubt most of you will have read Kate's email now and her decision to end the crop.  I'm sure it's as much as a surprise to you as it was to me, but equally that she has her reasons and I'm sure it was a hard decision for her.

However, a number of folks have commented that they would like the crop to continue if possible so a couple of us have decided to look into that possibility as we have enjoyed getting together each month, and some of you have also commented to me how much you have enjoyed the classes we've been able to bring you.

So - the blog.  I will not close it down for now, but will removed the details of where and when until such a time as we are able to resurrect it in some form somewhere.

Please join me in wishing Kate all the best and hope that she will be able to join us again in the future.

A snag....

Since the last post Kate has informed me that we will be unable to bring a shop to the crop due to constraints set by the Church.  Sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but there isn't a lot I can do about it. C'est la vie as they say.

The online store isn't yet open for business, but if you have any requests then please email me as I will be able to bring any prepaid purchases to the crop.   I'll let you know as soon as you can order online.

Proudly Presenting….

header---blog---live

Over the last few weeks I have been working really hard looking into bringing a shop to the crop each month.  Trust me when I tell you it’s been hard work and as a result I have made a huge decision……to open an online store. There is still lots of work to be done but all being well I should be able to start bringing that store to you from the June crop onwards.

As members of the crop you will get a 10% Discount on any purchases you make at the crop, or free delivery if you order online and collect from the crop.   At this point I should warn you that I won’t be stocking scrapbook papers…groan, I know, but they take up such a lot of space and there are so many ranges it would be difficult to cater for all tastes.

If there is something that you’d like to see at the shop, please shout up and I’ll do my best to bring it to you.

Class kits will be sourced via my new store, which should mean that the price can come down!  yay!! In the meantime I’m off doing a workshop this weekend so am unable to make the crop, but feel free to email me if there is something you want to ask.

Happy Scrapping ladies!

February Sketch

Did you finish a layout based on February's crop sketch?

Here's Jackie's version.  Click on it to get a closer look, especially at that title.  Jackie has doodled stitches and then applied a coat of glossy accent to jazz them up.

And here is my version. Slightly differrent to the sketch in that I have used three chipboard frames on the lower half and added a spinkling of brads and buttons around them.

If you've done a layout based on the sketch don't forget to either email it to me or bring it along to the next crop.

Websters Pages

I love Websters Pages papers for cutting and layering as I did on this layout here, but new for CHA they have these beauties, fabric ribbons and tags.  Can you imaginge adding texture with these to your mini books, scrapbook pages or even home decorations.

Tim Holtz

Tim has lots of new dies coming out with Sizzix, but it's his stamps I love most.  OK mainly because I don't own a die cutting machine, but he's given the sneakiest peek so far of his new stamps.  How unfair is this shot?!

If you have a die cutting machine you can find details of his new dies here, as there are just too many to add to the blog.

Jillibean Soup anyone?

Another CHA sneak peek this time from Jillibean Soup.  Good enough to eat? I wouldn't mind some of those little houses.  What a great way to add texture to your layouts.

CHA Sneaks

The sneak peeks of new products which will be launched at the Craft & Hobby Association show this month are coming in thick and fast so I thought you should see some of the loveliness.

First up some of Prima's new flowers.  I'm not one for using flowers but I think we may just have to have a flower laden class later this year. I absolutely adore these!

Some Graphic 45 Loveliness.  Imagine what a great embellishment this sheet would make to a layout. With all Graphic 45 papers it will be great to cut up and use in art journals too.  I will be ordering some from this range.

That's it for now.  I'll be back again later when I have trawled through some more sights.

Next Crop: Saturday 8th January 2011 & some admin notes.

Don't forget we have moved to Pockington Methodist Church!  Details on how to find us are over on the right hand side of the page >>>>>>>>>

If you have worked on your "A Little Piece of Christmas" mini book, then please bring it along so we can have a look at it and let us know how you found it.

There will not be a class held at this months crop, but if there is something specific that you would like a class or workshop for future crops please shout up and we'll see what we can do.

You'll also notice that the crop dates for the whole of 2011 are now available here on the blog so pop them in your diary.  These dates may be subject to change but if they do you will have plenty of notice.

Due to the change in location and the requirement for the public liability insurance the cost for 3 crops in advance is £16. (£4 for an afternoon, £8 for all day) there will  be at least one teaching class or workshop at one of the 3 crops.  During June, July and August there will be no all day session so the cost for 3 months in advance will be £12.
To cover the cost of PL insurance there is to be an annual membership fee of £5.50 due each January to regular members of Scrap n'Chat.

Any new person wishing to join Scrap n'Chat may pay on the day for a trial run up to 3 months. The daily rate will be:-

£6 for an afternoon crop and £12 for an all day crop.  Any new person attending more than 3 crops will also need to pay a membership fee of £5.50
